The Czech Development Agency is assisting mountain safety with a project of developing mountain rescue services in Bosnia and Herzegovina

In order to contribute to the safety of stay and activities of visitors in the mountainous areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Czech Development Agency (CRDC), the BiH Ministry of Security, the Mountain Rescue Service of the Czech Republic (HSČR) and the Union of Mountain Rescue Services in Bosnia and Herzegovina (GSSuBiH) started a project named: “Strengthening capacities and development of mountain rescue services in Bosnia and Herzegovina”.

The aim of the project is contributing to the development of quality rescue of visitors and reduce the number of accidents in the mountainous areas of BiH through strengthening capacities of partner organizations and their cooperation leading to sustainable development of mountain rescue services in BiH. The project will assist in the development of preventive measures for safe movement in the mountains of BiH.

The Memorandum of Understanding between the Czech Development Agency and the Ministry of Security of BiH and the Agreement between the Mountain Service of the Czech Republic and the Association of Mountain Rescue Services in Bosnia and Herzegovina as a project implementer envisage activities to strengthen cooperation between project partners and relevant organizations in BiH, strengthening competences of mountain rescue service members in BiH, identification of needs and equipping of mountain rescue services and development of preventive measures for safety in the mountains.

During the two years of the project, other organizations participating in the movement of visitors to mountain areas from Bosnia and Herzegovina will be involved in the activities.
